Lands End
Spacement
Melbourne 2006
What kind of precipice waits to surprise at land’s end?
What knife-point separation
or veiled and floating meniscus-horizon
between celestial and terrestrial?
A spinning yawn of black
into which oceans cascade
to spill, and mist, and ricochet against the stars
Or does the land end where the body begins?
Two substances mingling in decay
dry and wet
from which earth and flesh regenerate
feasting upon each other
turning
again and again
a marbled suchness
in which the wax and wane and flow
of all matter heave
and pass in evolution
Or do land and body rest always in each other?
Body within land
Land within body
